Jewel of the Sarah + Ariel Vromen @ CUT! 2009

37 days and counting.... THE UPDATE

Hey all,

Just thought we'd let you know what's new for CUT! since our last update. I wish I could tell you all of the guests we have been speaking with, however we need to follow protocol and wait for their authorization for formal announcements. Bottom line, if you love film and the processes behind it, get your ticket now while they are still available. We expect several more announcements but need to let you know that many of our guests are unable to confirm until very close to the event date. Don't miss out on an incredible weekend waiting for a particular person to be announced.

Friday, the 13th (forever now known as a very lucky day) will not have any formal programming, however it will be our registration day and most importantly - PARTAY! Our VIP party location, will, as last year be divulged to Platinum ticket holders only at Registration time. Also note, if you do not have a platinum ticket and were not planning on arriving on Friday in time for registration, you can contact LJ at to make alternate arrangements.

Saturday, the 14th will be a hodge-podge of the fun kind. We have the 25th Anniversary of "Robin of Sherwood" to celebrate with several members of the original cast, including Mark Ryan, Jason Connery and another special guest they are bringing with them if the stars align correctly. We will also be screening an episode or two from the original series, so if you've never had the opportunity to see any, you are in for a treat. With a little luck, we'll even have a recent cast member from the new series.

Next up, our friend Ariel Vromen will take you through the last decade of his career starting with a screening of a small short film he did with a bunch of his buddies called "Jewel of the Saraha". This little gem was the springboard in the careers of most of the guys, including Mark Neveldine who is going to be wowing us on Sunday, the 15th. Gilad Benamram, composer for Ariel's upcoming film project "Iceman" will also be joining us.

Nick Bicanic is coming back to talk about his two new projects and we're planning on giving him more time to do it this year. (We also told him that he doesn't have to wear shoes again either.) He won't tell us details of what he has planned yet, but knowing Nick, it will be something fascinating.

A new talent, indie director, Ted Collins will be screening his hilarious short film, which will be followed by Daniel Vest, Creator, artist and all round awesome guy to give you a preview of "Code Name: Zeus" which is being formally announced at Comic Con this year. I don't want to give too much away, but you can visit the website www.graykinentertainment.com to become acquainted with this exciting new project.

Our last panel of the day is still in the planning stages, so it's a bit too soon to talk much about it. We will tell you though, it's name.... "Working between TV and Film".

So after dinner and a good night's sleep (for most of you anyway), we come to Sunday, the 15th which this year will be known as "Movies: The Neveldine and Taylor Way". We don't want to spoil it for you, but we'll share a couple tidbits.... a live commentary of Crank (a sort of "Mystery Science Theatre 3000" if you will...), exclusive film clips from their newest work , Q&A Panels with several cast members of Crank2 and Game (Terry Crews, Clifton Collins Jr., Efren Ramirez and those yet to be announced) with a Meet and Greet session for photos and autographs. Mark is excited... Brian is excited... we are all excited for what promises to be one of the craziest days in film fest history.

Our guests are bringing raffle items and surprises, but we're still very happy to accept any donation that any of you would like to make. 100% of the raffle/auction goes to this year's charity, which is DSALA (Down Syndrome Association Los Angeles).

One of our attendees had the opportunity to spend a few months overseas, so she has graciously donated her Platinum ticket to the GALS website for a raffle to assist toward the travel and lodging expenses of some of our guests. She wishes to remain anonymous but we wish to send her a huge thank-you all the same. The raffle is running until 2.14.09 with the winner being announced on 2.15.09. If you have any questions on how to enter this raffle, please contact Dayna.

Because the area is so diverse, and several attendees had different places they wanted to stay, there is no "event" hotel per se at this point. We will be adding different locations and their details on the website directly with different locations and price ranges.

I'm sure there are a million questions that I've neglected to answer, so anyone who has one, please feel free to add a comment here so others can benefit from the answer or email me directly.
