The Books

I think it'd be cool if we could have a post going where we say which books, out of the ones mentioned in the movie, we have read, and then talk about them.

Before I start: Question: Does the book that this movie is based off of have the same title as the movie?

Ok--Crime and Punishment by um...woops I forgot.

Has anyone read that "classic chinese" one?

The Book's title in English is Balzac and the Little Chinese Seamstress. I do not know what the title of the Book is in French or Chinese and I do not know the English translation of the movie title Xiao cai feng.

I don't know chinese but I would guess that Xiao cai feng means Little Seamstress since xiao means little or small.

I've read quite a bit of Balzac. Some of it is quite boring, others exciting and horrifying. Cousin Bette, I believe, would be my favorite and it was mentioned in the movie. Old Griot is mediocre.

Madame Bovary (Flaubert) is also pretty good. Those pop into my head.
