Abortion in China

Is it true that an unmarried woman isn't allowed to abort
I thought that China favors all kind of abortion. Marriage starts late to reduce fertility and couples are allowed to have only one child which should be legitimate.

One Child Policy only started in 1979. Before that, couples can have more than 1 children.

where what is the reason for that anyway?

Not at all!! If anything, married women probably make up the largest section of women aborting their babies BECAUSE OF the One Child Policy! Forced abortions and sterilization are the norm in China, especially in rural areas. Also, if you have more than one child, you must pay a heavy fine. Usually, city folks just pay the money and have another kid. In the country, depending on how strict the cadres run their section, you pay a fine with the second child; with the third child the authorities knock down your house and beat the crap out of you; by the fourth (and sometimes as early as the third child)your wife gets a forced abortion and sterilization. The exceptions to this, are, in some parts of the country, if you have a girl first, then you are allowed one more try to get a boy, but that's it.

Also, the One Child Policy only applies to Han Chinese. If you are one of the 55 other recognized minorities such as Miao, Dai, Tibetan, Manchu or Hui, then your family is exempt.
