Remind you of Lorca's Blood Wedding?

This movie was swell. It reminded me of Lorca's play Blood Wedding, has anyone else made this connection?

I've read it but no. Think this was even better by the way.

It reminded me more Luis Buñuel's "El río y la muerte" (The River and Death). The plot is quite similar: two families doomed by the "vendetta" tradition, killing themselves until the very last man... But suddenly something breaks that primitive tradition.

Having said that, and although the plot is quite similar, the storytelling couldn't be more different.

Anyway I am sure there are several movies more that depicts this "tradition".
But Walter Salles' "Abril Despedaçado" is one of the best I've seen. (alongside with that one by Buñuel --El río y la muerte).
