The thing about this sort of stuff is that you have to give it time, and try it multiple times, and look at it from various angles.
There was a time, when I didn't understand why such seemingly completely boring and uninteresting things, as 'train simulators' exist. Who the heck would play a simulator of a thing that just goes on rails and can only speed up or slow down and nothing else? How immensely boring and uninteresting!
However, after trying such things out of sheer curiosity, I slowly started to realize there's more to it than I thought at first, and it's actually quite challenging to give a 'good run', because the smallest thing can ruin it and make you lose your 'chains' (hard to explain).
So in fact, some train simulators can be quite exciting in their own, maybe slightly dull way. Same goes for 'truck simulators' - I couldn't fathom how anyone could play something that simulators a dull job.
After trying it out, I realized there's always a challenge in there - in the train simulators, you have to arrive at a certain spot at a certain time - how close to 0 cm and exactly 'on time' can you get? (I have gotten to 0 cm, and only a couple of seconds off, but not simultaneously).
The truck simulator has surprisingly quite a lot of variety, nice sceneries, and gives you an almost meditative, relaxing ride, with a goal, and satisfaction of delivering the goods, and thus reaching that goal. I found it was easy to let your thoughts wander, and yet feel 'important' as delivering the goods from one location to another - and it was fun to 'drive in traffic' and even obey the traffic rules.
So you can find fun in seemingly dull places - TV shows like this are just another variety of this 'treasures inside boredom' phenomenon, that made me interested in all kinds of things I previously didn't care about.
