OMg her acting was freakin horrible! I just saw this episode and she either over acting or under acting.. does ne1 agree?

i don't know. i used to feel the same way........................ and then she was allowed to make sense. she was no longer a stereotype, she was a three dimensional person who acted the way she did earlier for a reason.
you have to be aggressive to survive. she could either hook up with a strong man and hope he continues to rise, and she's not replaced; hook up with a strong woman, and hope the same. or she could be independent. theo chose independence, and being the person people hung onto instead of the woman who hung onto others as second in command, wife and/or whore.
i wonder if I would have reacted the way i did to her, if she were a guy instead of a woman (and a black woman at that). in the end, i liked her much better than kandyse mcclure's character, but kandyse' character was more in the mold of most women in the series.
strong? no. bad acting like a crappy after-school special from the 80's. awful, melodramatic, just plain poor delivery and execution. almost made me turn it off. i am willing to suspend my disbelief for something as possibly promising as this, but Theo (joke, by the way..?) brings it WAY below B-rating.
I don't think that it was bad acting at all. IMO the character was supposed to talk that way.
shareWhat I think people are missing from her is that she was a black woman who raised herself. Don't forget that in certain communities a lot of people actually talked like her in the 80s and 90s.
For me when i was watching her character that's exactly what I thought back to. Sorta like Jeremiah & the Leather pants. These people are still sorta living in an earlier time even though it's years later.
It's one of the reasons the show was so dynamic.
That all said, She wasn't the best actor in the series. But, she wasn't bad either.
There are folks that talk like her now.

Theo is supposed to be an over-the-top and in-your-face character, like Tina Turner's Aunty Entity. That is the sort of person who would not only survive but thrive in that world.

I loved the way she played that character. She is one of my favorite villains of all time. The way she delivered her lines and portrayed that character is the way it was supposed to be. She was supposed to be a drama queen of the ghetto and a woman that makes others do her bidding.
Like the Men on Film would say: 'Two snaps up!'
