The Odyssey dad actor is the same dad actor in this, filmed same scenes

Has anyone who watched this show seen the early 1990's Canadian show The Odyssey, because I just started the first episode of this and laughed. The Odyssey was about a kid who falls out of a tree fort and goes into a coma and in that coma he wakes up in a world with no adults. But in the real world, as a kid he has this memory of his father and him fishing in a small fishing boat where he has on a life jacket and his father doesn't, well near the beginning of the first episode of Jeremiah while he is fishing he has a flashback of him fishing with his dad in a small fishing boat where he is the only one with a life jacket on, so I laughed there and said wow Odyssey rip off, but then a split second later they show the actor portraying the father and I crapped myself, it is the exact same actor playing the dad in Jeremiah as in The Odyssey, look at his imdb, it even shows how he was in both shows, what are the chances, it makes me wonder if the show creator was a fan of The Odyssey or if it was a coincidence and also if that actor remembers filming that same scene for 2 different shows 10 years apart.
