Good off the beaten path movie

i am always intrigued when i find these little movies that escaped notice, largely, and which came and went quickly, no fanfare, but which are actually pretty good and which have actors and production much better than the movie's track record.

in a word, obscure

and that's the intriguing part. i find it quaint, uncanny, surreal, ethereal, existential.... when i find a movie which is 'out there' with hardly any information on it at all. ...it's like the producers just 'shoved this one on through' the system to get it in the can. then "next!"

for example, the music. i liked the music a lot. but when i looked here, nothing. so i looked at the credits, only three listed. i jotted em down and after some time have found the artists and label on amazon. grabbed the mp3 there. (and the artists are GOOD. i mean really good. spanish or italian, i think. but classy, jazzy, torch type songs. i am sure they have a real following somewhere 'out there' ...like maybe in europe, possibly?)

but it's interesting to me there's a WHOLE body of work out there in the world that gets made, people spend substantial chunks of their lives creating this art, then it just 'poofs' into thin air (mostly) and lay untouched, like that proverbial tree deep in the forest which falls and nobody hears it

i liked the film okay. not bad. and belushi was good. proper little detective thriller, with said twists and such.

so after all this, i wonder: 'am i the only person in the world who has even seen this film?'

I just saw and I liked it too. Jason Bateman was really good in it too.

I guess it's like looking at clouds. You see one thing and I see another. Peace.
