Superb - best ever?

I always prefered this to the original. It was just better. God knows how many hours I spent locked away at the computer running around in God mode.

They were the good old days, when you didn't need to use the mouse to play, and games would run without fear of crashing or needing some souped up pc with a net connection.

I picked up a compilation of the Doom games recently and got back into Doom 2 - it still genuinely makes me jump! I hate turning round and seeing some badass demon clawing away at me, or the Barons of Hell screaming away. I thought the level design was far better than in the original Doom, and lighting was used to good effect to scare the crap outta ya too.

Anyway, it started me on the path of all things FPS, but to be perfectly honest, I don't think any games since then have created the same kind of buzz, apart from Half-Life. Of course, Duke Nukem was a laugh, but Doom was just a landmark.

Yep, the old Doom games still do scare me at times, they're awseome.

Doom II is the first "first person shooter" game I played, in 1996, and the first times I played it those *beep* Imps' and Demons' cries really scared me!!
And that *beep* Cyberdemon is the most dreadful monster ever seen, the worst thing you could meet!! Better not to find yourself near him!

Doom 2 (or any of the original dooms) are some my fav games ever. I used to bunk of school just to come home and play it back when it came out.

Still just as playable today :)

Then came Quake and Duke3D, and caused me n my mates to have even more days off school. Well worth it...of course ;)

lol, did indeed. Well, mainly the just the first one, but i'm sure D2 was the cause of many days off aswell. Stupid really, but was great fun at the time.

Headaches? Hallucinations? You sure Doom alone caused them? :P

Yeah, when you stay stuck too long to a game, then you can see all those coloured spots!!

Did you return the videotapes, Patrick Bateman?

No. never got round to it. Had to get some sheets cleaned instead, horrible red stain on 'em :{

reply

Red stains? Mmmmm... weren't you hit in your eyes by an Imp by chance??

I also remember that after playing for a lot of hours to Doom II my reflexes weren't good... as I had been drunk!

So, did you return the videotapes, Patrick Bateman?

I think the Imp may have done the damage, along with the help of a nasty Cacodemon. Those damn mutant tomatoes.

Drink and Doom 2 and deathmatch = Fun, ended with extreme hated towards friends. Great fun lol

and as it turned out i never actually had any videotapes. Lousy script ya see, not true to the book at all :{

AH!AH!AH! I never played in deathmatch! Yeah, there could be the risk you really could kill each other with your friends!

So, I was right that statement was from "American Psycho"! Actually, the movie is not as nasty as the book!

Yeah. I played Doom II before the original Doom, and it will always be my favorite. It was unlike anything I had seen before. I remember I couldn't wait to see what the next monster would look like...

Playing it in 1995 (I think it was) was the best time I ever had with a video game. Ever.

reply

This was awesome game and made me want to play more 1990s games.

reply

Do you consider Imps to be a major threat?

reply

Yes, I felt the same way.
