Racism in Fútbol

I watched this segment this morning while getting ready for work. I don't know if it was old or not. I have to say I was completely surprised and disgusted by the behavior of those fans. All the time on these boards no matter where I go I constantly hear how racist, uptight and stupid Americans are and how open minded, accepting and laid back Europeans are. Of course I take those words with a grain of salt as they are generalizing. It was interesting to see the European people behaving just as how we are described. I felt so terrible for those players as they endured the boos and the monkey antics. I will never understand it.

Yea being an African American that plays soccer, I was shocked when I saw the segment and watched the end of the year follow-up. Like DJOHNSON said Amrs. are always criticized by European but at least we have MOST our social issues in check. That was mind-blowing and I had no idea that was happening. I don't wanna hear anymore European criticisim of the US.

It was very hard to watch. Like the Soccer player said I thought I was watching an episode of punk'd. That things like this still go on in this day and age is very disturbing and sickening. I guess there will always be ignorance and hatred in the world.

I saw that too. It's funny how many Europeans accuse Americans of so much crap, when they have the same exact problems.

It is beyond disturbing that in this day in age such barbaric behavior hasn't been eradicated yet.
