By definition, gaming is a sport. As someone who has played them, I can tell you up front, gaming takes skill. If you've never played them, you wouldn't know. Besides that, there's enough money in it now days for ESPN to take it seriously. For many years, they didn't take poker seriously but now that there's so much money involved in the "sport" of poker, they have to pay attention.

Agree totally. There are no athletes in computer gaming. Definitely not a sport. Sure, maybe their thumbs are more muscular than that average person, but that's about as athletic as it gets.

And just because people can bet on it, it still doesn't make it a sport. I think maybe a more proper term would be pseudo-sport.

The plural of mouse is mice. The plural of goose is geese. Why is the plural of moose not meese?

I agree with you. But that means we're both wrong.

An activity must include the following to be considered a sport:

1) A clear, unbiased, objective point/place system which results in either a win, loss, tie, or specific place for the competitor(s).
2) At least 1 opponent or 1 group of opponents for all competitor(s).
3) A set of unbiased rules that govern the activity of the competitor(s).
4) An understanding between the competitors on, as well as having access to, the written rules at all times.
5) An individual(s) who, in the best of their ability, provides an unbiased and objective ruling in accordance with the written rules.

Gaming incorporates all of these requirements.

Now think about the number of activities included in the Olympic Games that do not pass this list of requirements.

Look, I wish gaming wasn't a sport, it makes me cringe, but, it is by definition.
