Question concerning Myoga and the main crew's attitude towards him.

As you all know, Myoga is a teeny, tiny flea-youkai, who flees when there's danger, an act which everyone in the main crew calls him on time and again. My question is... What exactly do they expect him to be able to do? He is a flee. He is tiny and physically weak, and does not possess much power, otherwise, either. He is easily squashed, defeated, and otherwise detained, as Inuyasha (and perfectly normal humans) often demonstrates. The number of situations he's even useful for anything outside of his role as an information gatherer for the heroes are countable without running out of fingers on one hand.

I think you maybe looking at it too seriously. I think they are just making a play on words. He is a flea that likes to flee.

So that becomes the running gag.

Well, you would have a point if this was originally an English-language show. But it's from Japan. And the Japanese word for "flea" (蚤, "nomi") sounds nothing like the Japanese word for "flee" (逃げる, "nigeru"). So, that's not it.

He doesn't need to be large to be of use. He has vast knowledge, he could help them find weaknesses in their opponents.

But at some point it's probably just a habit anyway. And who wouldn't enjoy that habit with someone who literally starts packing their bags first chance they get? I wouldn't miss such an opportunity.
