plot hole?

im new to inuyasha so maybe this has been already asked and/or answered on here (or in the show) but why does Kagome have to go back in time to help? in the modern day, inuyashas time has long passed and everything seems to have gone pretty well. if the jewel is formed or not, it doesnt seem to have an impact on the future. so why try to help at all?

I think that currently there is a chance that she can preform the destined actions to keep the prescient consistent, but if she fails she creates a time paradox destroying the present.

But it did have an impact on the future. Some of the demons got hold of the shards and were seen in Kagome's time period.

I thought of that from time to time, but I agree with another poster who responded. It's sort of like free will versus destiny. Here I think it's the latter. If Naraku is left continue, he would definitely have destroyed nearly everyone and everything. I believe the future is as it seems because Kagome's actions are already recorded.

Think Terminator. Both Skynet and the resistance (with the exception of John Connor) thought they were changing time but it was always meant to be as it was.
