script credit

It's shocking to see that no credit is being given to French dramatist Pierre Corneille who wrote the play (L'Illusion Comique) that this film is based on. Tony Kushner even did a brilliant version of the play in the 90s known as The Illusion - - and no mention of any of them in the credits of the film. This is not original material!!!

You're right. With four writers credited not one mention of Tony Kushner and Pierre Corneille. The material is definetly based upon Pierre Corneille's play L'Illusion Comique. WOW. This is nasty.

Corneille is credited on the movie's website:

Since there is no copyright still in place on a 1636 work, there is no legal necessity to credit an inspiration from Corneille.

Goorjian's movie, very loosely based on the Corneille play, is completely independent of Kushner's comedic translation/adaptation. The same way Zefferelli's Romeo and Juliet is completely independent of Luhrman's Romeo + Juliet. Both have the same source material, that's all.

Please for God's sake fix the spelling in your subject line.
