Clearly, the best film on IMDB with an under 5 rating

I agree. Baffling.

I don't normally ascribe to the "critics as sheep" notion, but for the life of me I can't understand the lukewarm -> hostile response FF got. And while I'm used to irrational/impatient criticism on IMDb, never quite to this extent.

I've seen it four times, and appreciated it more each time, particularly the performances, which are stellar (esp. Keener and Hyde-Pierce, and of course Nicky Katt). The interweaving character structure -- which might seem done to death by now -- is handled with more subtlety and intelligence than most similar "experiments".
