Why did Spielberg think this would dishonor Holocaust survivors?

This has nothing to do with WWII, and it has nothing to do with the Holocaust.

This is the story of an angry man who could have went either way, and because events turned out to lead him down a dark path, that's where he went.

I see no dishonor of Holocaust survivors here.

I disagree that it has nothing to do with the Holocaust. It explores possible underpinnings of the policies that lead to the extermination of minorities.
However, I totally agree with the fact that there's no dishonoring the victims of the Holocaust. Fearing to talk about the man who was responsible for the policies is making a superhuman of him- albeit a "evil" superhuman.
