Lily's death = end of financial woes...

Lily was a psychotic child and so when she jumped from an open window, the hospital should have been sued for negligence and for her death. Surely the emotional trauma of losing their daughter and sister would have amounted to a good few million? Open window, psychotic child in a psychiatric ward, hello,
that's like extremely gross negligence....

I thought the same thing.

I was thinking the same thing. I know that if I was placed in a psyche ward and I "fell" out of an open window, they would for sure get sued.

And it would've added another great angle in the movie...

Lawsuits take a while to pay out though.

Hey! This is a movie! The death of Lily was an important device in telling the story of the vulnerabiity of

yeah, no question whatsoever. Massive wrongful death lawsuit. I noticed that someone on this post, some lame apologist is like "hey, it's a movie..."

What's THAT supposed to mean? That it's okay to make a movie that is supposedly true to life and ignore what real life would do "because it's a movie"? I don't think so...

Weren't they supposed to move lily to the psych ward but before they could move her there THAT'S when she fell/jumped. I'd think that psych wards are on lower levels so if a patient did fall or jump. they would not hurt themselves. And Meg's ffamily has every right to sue and would receive a huge settlement from the negligent hospital.

The posters talking about how it being "just a movie" is a poor defense are correct in saying that doesn't work out to defend the film. It's true, since this movie is very much set in the real world, any family probably would think of this, whether she was in the psych ward or not.

It is a flaw of the film, I will concede, and although I enjoyed it, the fact it wasn't brought up even in a line of dialouge or made a back-seat event in the film is a bit hard to believe.
