Still One Of The Best Movies I've Seen

I'm a huge film buff, I love anything from obscure foreign and indie films, to the current Fincher/Nolan gods of cinema, to classic filmmakers like Kubrick and Fellini. But I have to say, having just watched Fear X recently for the 7th or 8th time, I still rank it as one of the best thrillers/dramas I've seen. The tension, cinematography, acting, ominous score, etc. I know it seems dd...a straight to dvd 90 minute pg-13 film noone has really seen. How can that compare to Shining, Se7en, Silence of the Lambs, Mystic River, Taxi Driver, etc?
I don't know if it's the Daivd Lynch/Mark Romanek/David Fincher like feel to it, but this film is just visionary in my view. I agree that the ending is a bit, well ambiguous and there's a few other issues I have with it. But I just really love the hell out of this thing and wish the director would make another thriller.

A lot of the reasons I love it is of course John Turturro's acting and the cinematography.

It's far from perfect and doesn't fully live up to the potential of the first half and the fascinating material... but overall it is a great, atmospheric, haunting film, one of the best of its kind. I'm really baffled as to why it isn't more known and also why people seem to hate it so much.
