the longer version with the mirror

ok so i believe there were actually several versions with the mirror as it was updated throughout the years each one entitled "a disney halloween" up through the late 80s or so. the fact of the matter is, my copy has gone the way of so many vhs tapes and is pretty much dead. it also is apparent that disney has no urge to release any of these on dvd anytime soon. in the mean time does anyone know a way that i can get my hands on a copy of this. im getting to the age where i will soon have kids and i already have many friends with children who i show halloween stuff to every year(great pumpkin, garfield, halloween tree, bugs bunny, ragedy ann + andy and the pumpkin who couldnt smile, fat albert, i also have the cartoon network and nicktoons dvds) the only problem is now i am missing the crown jewel of the collection. please, i am desperate for a copy of either disney halloween treat(would have to be taped off tv, i have the store bought one with the pumpkin, but it aint the same w/o the mirror) or a disney halloween from the 80s with the mirror etc. any help would be appreciated. also, if anyone sees a copy of casper's halloween cartoonfest, im lookin for that one too. you can contact me at [email protected]
thanks for the help.

I am also trying to get ahold of the longer version of the special (the one with the mirror). I just pulled my copy out today, popped it in the machine, and watched in horror as the tape was shredded. If anyone out there is willing to make a copy for me, please contact me at [email protected]

Thanks a million,

Pat

If you know how to use the newsgroups check alt.binaries.holiday. It's being posted at this very moment. Will probably only be there for a week or so depending on the quality of your newsgroup provider.

Did you post this on there and if you did how? And where did you find it? If you have this version on vhs or dvd can I buy a copy from you? Thanks. - Neil Hudson

This version was just posted to Torrentbox.com under "A Disney Halloween." So, if you have Bittorrent you can now download it! Hope this helps.

Hey All -

Like many of you, I too have been searching for this forgotten classic for the past few years.

I just got the copy that was posted on alt.binaries.holiday. It looks pretty decent considering it's a VHS->DVD transfer. There's a small glitch during the end that shows some tape roll, but other than that, it's not too bad.

Here are the technical details.
DVD is approx. 4GB in size, Video is 6MB/sec. Audio is MPEG 2.0, 192KB/sec. Total run time clocks in at just around 1:23. 22 chapters. Yeah, this is the one with the magic mirror.

Big ups to Kevin-190 for letting us know where to go. This is an underappreciated video that should really get a proper DVD release, but knowing the way disney is... it'll probably never happen.

Forgot to add earlier... if you're gonna watch this, don't watch it on the computer. It looks HORRIBLE and has a weird band on the side.

I bought a DVD version from eBay last Halloween, and it's of fair enough quality. Certainly watchable. It was taped from TV, but so was my old VHS (which my mother taped over) so I'm plenty happy with it.

Anyone who'd like to share, send me a message ;)

I have this tape in my collection as well -- I believe I taped it off the Disney channel around 1985 or 1986 or so. I don't know if it's different then the version you already have or not...

The DVD you have, is it the longer (90 minute) version hosted by the magic mirror? If so, I would absolutely love a copy! It was my brother's favorite special to watch on tv as a kid, and he's been looking for a copy of it for years! His birthday is coming up, and it would be great to give him a copy.

I recently found and viewed my VHS tape of A Disney Halloween and couldn't believe of the condition it was in. For being 20+ years old it is in really good condition. I transfered the tape from VHS to DVD and it came out great! It is the 1 hr and 30 min+ version, hosted by the magic mirror. Except for the end being cut off (which is only the last seconds of the show, when it is all wrapping up) it is all there. If you are interested in obtaining a copy on DVD R- you could email me at [email protected]
