question about the lottery (possible spoilers)

So did grandma play Maine's ticket before she died? did they win the money?
Because i missed those 5 minutes after Maine was watching the lottery results on tv. My tv froze for a few minutes.

It wasn't over, it still isn't over.

Grandma unfortunately didn't play the numbers that day. Maine was upset because she was on her way to play them and thats why she got into the accident and died. Maine also said that the money would've probably ruined her life anyway "money does that to people", implaying that she wasn't upset they didn't win.

I call that part BS because nobody is just ok with not winning $24 million. no sirreeee.Hell I bet grandma was even peeved she didn't get the ticket before dying just so her family could have it.

wow! i didn't expect such a quick response!

Well then if they didn't win, why would they have Maine's numbers?
It's quite stupid i think. If they weren't supposed to have her win, why would her numbers win anyway? I don't know. It's too hollywood!

You were in luck I had just happened to watch the movie the night before.

I agree about the whole numbers thing. They should've had her win. I was expecting Carolina to come out and say that yes they had won. I really would've liked to have seen them win after having the grandma die.

If she had won now THAT would have been typical hollywood, the fact she didn't made a refreshing change.

Right to the end I was expecting some twist where she had won after all, such as someone else had bought the ticket. I was pleasantly surprised that they didn't go down that route.

It did seem a tad unnecessary to have those be the winning numbers seeing as nobody got the ticket after all, but I guess it kept us guessing until the end by doing that.

As for her commenting on not being disappointed, I think its reasonable for her to say she wasn't while in reality she probably was. Its not like people always say what they really mean anyway, she was just trying to be mature about it.

Yes. It's like the old expression "the grapes were probably sour anyway".

It's a way to make ourselves feel better when we are not able to have something that we so desperately wanted.
