Do you think Ally left behind her journal for the same reason the aliens left behind the artifact?

The Aliens didn't leave the Artifact in the first place.

They didn't intentionally leave it in the first place. But they chose not to take it back in 1980 when they took back the rest of the stuff, because it was recording everything that was going on with the experiment
