Location Filming in ND

I was surprised what a terrible substitution this movie did for Benson County, ND in the episode "Dropping the Dishes." I used to drive through different parts of that county quite a lot. There are no mountains and very limited forests...and they are not the conifers shown in the movie. Also, driving from Maine to ND, I'm not sure how they managed to go through the Rockies.

It would be SO easy to fake Benson Country. Just film in a flat location. I'm not sure why Benson county was picked anyway. I can think of a number of counties that are much emptier.

The only thing they did right was to use an abandoned farmhouse. They're all over North Dakota.

It's a small point because it's very rate to do actual location filming. Not many people would know the difference anyway. But, for those few of us who actually live in North Dakota, it's a very big goof.

The whole miniseries was filmed in Vancouver B.C.

I think it was on Inside Taken - there was this neat little jest that Joel Gretsch had going with one of the Canadian make-up dudes and they were explaining about filming in Canada.

I'd love to know more about some of the locations used for filming, I've never found anything that says where much of it was filmed aside Vancouver. I know at the start of the mini-series "Tin Man" there is a very similar house to Sally Clarke's like we see in Taken.
