Your opinions of the ending?(SPOILER ALERT!)

I'd like to know what you all thought of how it ended. I thought it was sad, but for it to turn out differently would've been so out of character for Allie that it probably would've ruined the whole miniseries

reply

I recently re-watched it and I keep thinking about the ending.
Just dont see how it could have ended any other way without it being forced. Like setting up a sequel or something, which is something I wouldn't mind seeing.

I don't think it could have ended any other way. I've seen it four times now and have cried everytime. Can't help it. So, perfect ending.

I thought the ending was great, even though Week 2 was noticeably weaker overall than Week 1, which was brilliant. It pretty much had to end this way.

reply

It seemed a bit like a shaggy dog story. All that story and all that time for a fairly flat ending. To me it seemed almost pointless.

IMO, the ending was wonderful, it made me think with wonder about what would become of Allie, would she come back, when would she come back, what would she experience while with "her people", and how would her parents and family left behind cope with her loss. We all know what the future was for nasty Mary; she earned anything and everything that might happen to her in prison. But I never fail to cry at the ending of "Taken"....and am left to think and hope that maybe there'll be a sequel, but I'm kind of doubting it. Evidently, Jefbecco-1 hasn't much imagination! (Sorry)

The aliens would wait until she reaches puberty then turn her into a living incubation chamber for a new breed of hybrids with or without her consent.

I have been ordering them from Netflix and the very last disc is "a very long wait." What? How is that possible?

How does it end? I remember watching it 13 years ago but I don't recall all the details.

Considering that the aliens have no emotions and have no way to gauge how Allie is feeling, unless she can communicate with them somehow, she will be tortured I am sure.

Through the friend of Tom, a radio DJ specializing in UFOlogy, an announcement is put out asking people with any interest in aliens and UFOlogy to meet at the Clarke family's farm.

The allies of Allie converge on the farm first and show concern about Allie. blah blah blah. boring stuff. Allie cures them of their alien implants - everyone has a nose bleed and it falls out.

The US military converge upon the farm and they clash with the allies who are prepared to kill to protect her. Realising that violence is inevitable and that she'll never be truly safe from the military, Allie reactivates the part of her brain that allows the aliens to track her. The aliens come and Allie goes away with them.

The military choose not to arrest anyone. blah

Oh. And you are left with a bad taste in your mouth because the last few episodes were weak compared to the early historic episodes.
