Taken as a biblical metaphor

***Contains spoilers***

Perhaps some of the older posts that I haven't read contain some reference to this, but I find it interesting that few or no commenters have picked up on the fact that Taken is like the Bible redux:
Innocent, pure human being of contested origin endures great trials and tribulations for the sake and enlightenment of her earthly brethren and, perhaps, of her "angelic" watchers. There is a long account of the whole period leading up to her appearance on this planet. She goes relatively under the radar for some time, although those who really matter know that she is no ordinary person. She dispenses parables and bits of great wisdom along the way. The most powerful army on Earth is after her. A number of people are healed or deeply changed by her powers. She has the ability to hurt people if she wants, but chooses not to do so. She is unrelenting in her will to sacrifice for the good of others. Finally, she is raptured so that she can be where she really belongs. I could go on, but you get the picture. When you see the miniseries under this light--trite though it may seem--you get plenty more out of it that you would otherwise.

I've never thought of it like that before, but now I can see that. Very good observation.

Don't forget the bit when the soldier asks that black guy from the therapy sessions if he knew the little girl or her family personally is like when Peter denied knowing Jesus.

It's called the hero's journey. Sorry, but it has nothing to do with that fantasy book called the bible.
