Where did it go?

Anyone know what Channel ten is up to?

No Secret Life for the past two weeks, and there was no warning or anything.
They even played the teaser for the next episode.

Anyone know when it's coming back & if it's staying at 9:30pm Wednesday?

Thanks for the help (I'm in Bris by the way)

Grr - Secret Life is the only decent Australian TV show.
How come Blue Heelers & All Saints are still going? Secret Life is sooo much better! (sorry - that's my bitch session of the day, lol)

I have to be honest, channel 10 drives me nuts when it comes to things like this. They put TSLOU in a whole new time slot, with pretty much a whole new cast, and then only give fans three weeks to get used to it before pulling it off the air, obviously cos it wasnt rating that great.

Now, was it just me, or were other people just starting to get into the show, with its new characters, starting to enjoy where it was going, when it was taken off!!!!! If they had left it a little bit longer who knows what would have happened! They are too impatient to give it a chance!!

I too hated the chick with the cat, but in the last episode aired found myself starting to like her cos she was being nicer to Kelly!!

Put it back on before people forget about the show all together!!!!!

The last episode that channel 10 played showed that potential was still there, and now it's been pulled.

Apparently channel 10 have cancelled the series and will play the remaining episodes later in the year at a late timeslot. Yep, it's all over kiddies.
Such a shame.

Where did you get your information about it being cancelled? Isn't it a co-production with a UK production company so it would be harder to cancel after 3 episodes on Ten in a bad timeslot? Surely they would at least finish off the series for the overseas customers? Why would anyone want to watch "remaining episodes" if we knew the stories would never get resolved?

I thought the official word from Ten was that it was that ....

Secret Life hasn't been axed. Filming of the fourth series will continue and the show will return later in the year in a less competitive slot. "We will find it a more friendly home," a Ten spokeswoman said. - March 05, 2004 The Herald Sun

Yes I was starting to get into it too - with such a dramatic change you needed a few episodes to get into it - just like the first series. But it needs to be given a chance in a better timeslot!

If the writing is there then it surely should be able to achieve the 1.4 million viewers of the abortion episode....

I've heard it from numerous people & print sources, such as WHO and Daily Telegraph.
What I have heard is:

The show is in its final season.
All remaining episodes (INCLUDING episodes yet to be shot) of this series will be aired later.

Of course, this information is not accurate - but it's a common thing for Australian networks to do with failing shows (like Above the Law, MDA, Young Lions), which is finish production of a series & wrapping up storylines, rather than American TV which simply pulls the plug (unless the show has been long-running).

I've heard its over & even if its not, public interest in the show has diminished a lot and I'm pretty sure it will be its final season anyway

Oh well! Funny that it won best drama and best acress at the logies last night (19/4/04). I hope they will give it another chance though - there aren't any Australian dramas like it.

I suppose if they wanted to just get rid of the remaining episodes they would just screen them very late at night (like some of those shows you mentioned) and not wait till later in the year.

Here's hoping at least!

I hope it comes back. Last night's logie's restored so much of my faith in it. I found it weird that when Claudia & Deb read the producer's acceptance speech she kept saying 'was' instead of 'is' (when referring to the show).

I'm sure channel 10 have some work to do now.

Meanwhile I'm so pissed that blonde chick from home & away won 'best new female talent'. She couldn't act to save her life. I wanted Sky Mangel from Neighbours to win. She can actually act.

ok people...i worked for secret life of us, so i KNOW what's going on!!!
Let me explain. hardly any shows last all that long in australia because of our weak industry. there just isn't enough money, etc to go round. Secret Life is Produced by Southern Star Endomol (they do Big Brother as well) and they're the ones who pulled the funding. Channell 10 pulled it off AIR but it wasn't them who cancelled the show. that was southern star endomol who did that. channell 10 weren't getting the right ratings. i can tell you that secret life season 4 will commence as soon as big brother has finished. also, the reason that it kept filming, was because everyone (cast/crew) were still under contract, and also because the show has been pre-sold to the UK. But it is definately over after that. i hope this has answered any questions. feel free to ask me any more questions!

Thanks cat for letting us know. I think it's a real shame that it's over - it was one of the more original Australian shows about! I don't think they gave it much of a chance at that Timeslot and only after 3 episodes!

Can you tell us any tidbits about what the unscreened episodes are like? Do they resolve everything at the end?

Yes there's planty you are talking about episodes from season 2.
The 4th season of the show is also the last since the show was cancelled last year.

I just checked the TV Guide and the final season appears to be screening from Jan 20th in Australia 10:30pm Thursdays. Hopefully it picks up and has a fitting end!
