Which should I watch first...

...this film or Manhunter. I've just recently watched Silence of the Lambs and really liked it. Now I'm wondering on watching Red Dragon but which version is best to see first. This one has Hopkins but I've heard Manhunter has some strong performances also. I haven't read any of the books so which version is best for newcomers.
