Am I the Only One...

Am I the only one who thinks the exact opposite of Hopkins' three performances as everybody else? This is the performance he is most lauded for and he is criticized for hamming it up in both Hannibal and more so in Red Dragon. I may be crazy, but this is his most "showy" performance by far. His wide-eyed, penetrating stare, his speech is more deliberate and drawn out, his clinically smooth movements and such....
I think he actually played it DOWN in Hannibal and Red Dragon. He is more subdued in speech and movement. He has a more calm demeanor than in Silence imo, where everything felt calculated to a fault. The only big thing he did in Red Dragon is take that lunge at Will during their talk in the exercise room. But the point of that action was to prove a point to Will and it wasn't even that over the top. I don't know, everyone say he over did it in Red Dragon when I see Silence as the film with the most OTT performance. It's not a bad performance mind you, I love it. But it is still his most properly "evil" performance in the whole series.

I found in Hannibal he was more hammy then in red dragon this one slipped under the radar for most because of Hannibal even though its on par in my opinion with silence

IMO Mads Mikkelsen ( Hannibal the tv series) really portrays a great Dr. Lector. He is creepy and scary in a very subtle way. Nothing over the top or hammy, just very low key and chilling.

I don't know, I got used to Hopkins as Hannibal, I just can't see him in any other actor...
When I first wathed SOTL I got chills every time Hannibal is shown, that's how good Hopkins performance was to me.
Only that "I will eat your liver with chiante= scene was over the top... Acting wise

Why didn't you get used to Cox playing Hannibal?
