Edward Norton is a terrible Will Graham

'nuff says, Hugh Dancy.

Can't agree.

This Will, I liked as a character and was interested in watching him solve the crime -- Dancy's will irritates me to the point of not wanting to rewatch any of his scenes (in fairness, the problem lies with how they wrote him, more than the actor, although he's never been a particular favorite of mine).

i thought edward norton did a great as Graham, but just didnt have the same rugged world weary view as Will petersen's Graham did.

No Contest. I am a huge Ed Norton fan but I didn't feel the angst that Will gave off with having to deal with these horrific crimes. He showed the torment of his ability to tap into the minds of these killers in a profound way. I admit I am a bit biased as I saw no need to remake Manhunter. They definitely threw in more of the back story to the whole Red Dragon novel in the remake, but I never felt as invested. I also thought Dennis Farina played a better Crawford..all respects to Harvey Keitel. Manhunter, while dated and in the typical Michael Mann style had some of the best moments to really make you feel the invasive nature of the antagonist. The scene with Will talking to Lector in jail (the original Lector,Brian Cox and his need to escape when he asks if he knows how he caught him. The opening scene is one I will never forget, so incredibly creepy without showing any real violence.

I thought Edward Norton was a great Will. He's a fantastic actor.

Snakes. Why'd it have to be snakes?

I wouldn't say terrible. I'd say he is the least best of the three who played the character....

Paycheck job. You can see he just wasn't interested. He's obviously capable of a lot more, but he didn't have a strong director pushing him, so he coasted. His scenes look like a filmed table-read.

When he's interviewing Lecter, he comes across like an amiable kindergarten teacher who wandered into the wrong room looking for the vending machine. His Graham gets high on weekends, probably listens to Phish.

To be fair, he's not the only one. More dead eyes in this film than in THE POLAR EXPRESS.

Edward Norton seems like the only actor to portray Will Graham who actually bothered to read the novel Red Dragon.

reply

apparently you never read the novel. Norton was atrocious.

I also thought they could have gotten someone better than Norton.
