Anyone who has seen Ed Norton in one of his great performances and can't tell the difference between that and what he did here is deluding themselves or absolutely tasteless. This is the difference between directors like Michael Mann, a guy who is critically acclaimed for his many famous drama thrillers throughout the last several decades, and Brett Ratner, who is known mostly for nothing more than a handful of godawful family action comedies and laughing stocks like X-Men 3. Their works speak for themselves. They're not on the same level at all. I mean seriously, how incompetent do you have to be get such underwhelming performances out of some of the industry's best actors?
You Red Dragon fans seem to like pointing out the 1 or 2 Mann films you didn't like, but let's play the opposite game. Not counting Manhunter or Red Dragon, Why don't we count the good drama thrillers that Mann has done and compare it to the number of ones Ratner has done? Oh wait. We can't, because Ratner hasn't even done a single other drama thriller besides his remake of an already existing movie....
