Beautifully offensive (spoilers)

The movie touched a lot of emotional points and was suspenseful and beautifully acted. What spoiled it for me was James's attitude at the end that the boys had come to him to free Molly. WTF? She had killed every one of them in a torturous way and was continuing to kill other boys. Wss this supposed to be OK because she was reuniting each boy with his dead mother? I found this aspect of James's 'spirituality' really offensive.

I'm also wondering why the boys waited 10 years to start contacting James. What was supposed to be the trigger that caused Dennis to 'visit' James at this particular moment?
