Cathy, Ella And Kids

Something I did not notice when I first watched the film is maybe Joe felt that that Cathy would be a bad mom as we saw that Ella was not the best mom also. It's like Cathy would have become Ella if they had had the child.

Ella was distant from her son and family, as we see that Les was the one whom was more the one raising him or at least the parent who spent time with him. Cathy and Ella were both distant people without much conversation. We watched Ella whack her son and forced him to try and like Joe when it was clear the boy hared him. Not to mention having sex just outside the boys door letting him witness her having sex with someone other than his dad.

On another subject, did anyone else think she was also having an affair with her sisters husband, maybe that is why her sister returned the betrayal.
