Movie was announced in year 2000

During a powerpuff girls' marathon. Two years later it appeared in theater and, of course, was superb.

Did anyone else catch that 2-years-early announcement?

reply

Yes! I did! I don't remember hearing about it during the marathon back then, but I DO remember one day going on the internet during the summer of 2000 and reading on some news website (either yahoo, google, or aol), an article that The Powerpuff Girls was greenlighted for a feature film in 2002. Being the HUGE, HUGE, HUGE Powerpuff Girls geek/nerd/fanatic that I was back then (and still proudly currently am today) I was completely ecstatic about it!!! Since there were no details at the time about what the plot was going to be I automatically assumed that it was going to take place after the series was over, and that Him was going to be the main villain rather than Mojo.

Oh awesome!!! I was the same. In 2000 I told my friends all about the PPG movie coming up in 2002 and they were like "what? Are you sure? Where'd you hear that?"... I talked about it for the next two years and was so ecstatic the day it came out in 2002 - I saw it the DAY it first played in the theaters (which was July 3rd) - right after my birthday. ^_^

Yeah, there was an all-day PPG marathon and only ONCE during it, sometime during the middle, they gave a sneak peak about the movie. I went insane. I don't remember watching anymore episodes, I was too excited. I even entered that drawing contest of the Powerpuffs to appear in the newspaper in the movie. (It didn't win, of course,, but I hope they saved it - it's a really good picture since I've been drawing the powerpuffs since grade 4 (still do now).)

I'm in Japan now and it's a shame the PPGs aren't popular anymore here. It's all about Stitch now. :(
At least the PPG Z anime version is sugoi (cool).
