A Bridge Too Far

If anyone's ever seen the movie "A Bridge Too Far," when General Urquart and his officer are sneaking through the residential district of Arnhem, they have too hide in a house after spotting a Tiger Tank. The area is almost exactly the same to the level "Yard by Yard." In fact the whole Holland campaign in the game references the movie. The fact that the fourth chapter is called "Several Bridges Too Far" is pretty obvious. The Nijemegen Bridge level is also obvious. Anyway "A Bridge Too Far" is a great war movie, but it is really long and boring to those who don't like war flicks.

Of course the movie also references "Saving Private Ryan," not only in the D-Day level but also the St. Mathuei level (I forget how it's spelled). The bridge sequence is identical to the one at the end of the movie (almost identical).

The "Rough Landing" level is like Band of Brothers, the "Replacements" episode.

If anyone else has seen similarities please comment.

lol yeah. The "Enemy Mines" level.

Another Medal of Honor meets Indie moment is how Joe Griffin gets the Entrenching Tool in Rising Sun. First, in In Search of Yamashita's Gold, you have to pick up the flower from the giant Buddha's hand. Then, you place it in a fountain. The fountain lowers while a wall opens up. The game says that "You have achieved enlightenment" and the entrenching tool is sitting in the room beyond the wall for you.

In the U-Boot level: when suddenly a guy rushes out of a hidden room where you find the Enigma machine: it's a little like in U571 when the German guy hides in his bed with a gun, shooting when a soldier opens the curtain.

"Tell me, and I forget. Teach me, and I may remember. Involve me, and I learn."

The "historical" briefing parts of this section of the game are a disgrace.

General attitude from US forces during WWII were that their British allies did not take enough risks or at least not as many as the US did. But then the whole briefing goes on about the risks of the dubious British strategy and how Ike has "reluctantly" went along with it. Eisenhower was SUPREME allied commander and answered to nobody except Marshall, Roosevelt and, indirectly, Churchill.

Furthermore. And to quote Eisenhower himself..

I didn't agree to Market Garden. Is insisted on it!
