what a romance ! but two questions

Two meaningless and hopeless lives had a meaningful encounter (but not physically) that made it all worthwhile.

I have two questions about the background of this movie.

First, the setting is 1999 when China has started economic reform for quite some times. But Failan appears to be very poor and becomes an economic refugee in Korea. How realistic is that?

Second, Kang-jae keeps on saying that he wants to go back to his home town. Did he originally come from Yanbian, China, or just rural area?

Better late the never.

China is a country with huge differences, other then for example South Korea. South Korea, just like Taiwan and the other tigers have used different economic policies to gain their wealth. Frankly this resulted in a more free society with a much higher wellfare then compared to China.

The last time i was in China was in september this year. There is still alot of poverty in China!

As for your second question: Kang-Jae most likely just came from a simple korean village since he didnt know how to speak Chinese.

Dude or girl, do you realize that it only like 5% of the billion Chinese who are living the industrial revolution and only a small number of them are actually rich?
