Can the ragers swim?
Or would they just flail about, either sucking in water instantly or burning through energy until they drowned? Something I never thought of when watching this movie before. Could be a big factor in surviving them.

shareSo a good tactic would be to stay near a body of water. At least you can jump in if you have to.
A well stocked houseboat would be the perfect refuge.
It could actually be fun making lots of noise to lure them into the water
Which is what happened in the sequel "28 weeks later". The main character fled on foot with the infected chasing after him.
He reached a river, hopped in a boat and escaped them. Some of the infected landed in the water and drowned.
Ok but he wasn't exactly using the water as a refuge or any particular tactical reason, it's just that the boat was his only form of speedy escape and he immediately raced off in it.
My point is more that as a strategy, and as a means of eradicating them in the local area so you could forage etc, one could just sit out on the water, make a ton of noise and watch them kill themselves en masse trying to get you.
One disadvantage of course is that it's also going to mess up the water that you may rely on, now full of putrefying corpses.
