did they ever say how they came up with the nicknames for Snake and Spike?

Spike because of her spikey hair but not sure with Snake. I'm thinking because he was tall and thin. That's just a thought though.

Snake got the nickname from being tall and thin. Stefan said that he had a choice between Snake and Slim.
