For 2 characters who were supposed to be the new versions of Emma and Manny I actually feel like both of their characters (both individually and within their friendship) were actually done 10x much better than ironically their predecessors.
I never really liked the Emma and Manny friendship because it always felt very uneven to me. I always felt like Emma was very neutral/indifferent about Manny, while Manny on the other hand (even when Manny was at her worst) had always loved Emma more than anyone on this whole planet & always gave her all to Emma & their friendship.
With Claire and Alli (at least from my perspective) that friendship felt like it was on equal, mutual footing.
Clare and Alli's friendship was terrible. They barely do anything together because they're always around somebody else (Clare/Eli and Alli/Jenna). Also, Clare sometimes act like a bitch towards Alli for no reason (i.e. getting mad at Alli for kissing her ex Jake like five hours after breaking up with him, scolded her when Alli wanted to know why Clare didn't tell her that she lost her baby). It seems like the more Alli wants to support her, the more uptight Clare gets, which gets pretty annoying fast because, well, she's Clare.
Emma and Manny's friendship has always been one of the best because, despite their differences (I mean, every greatest friendship on TV are of complete opposites - DJ and Kimmy, Cory and Shawn), their friendship felt more organic because we see them grow up together and they've been friends since they were little, so it's easy to see why their friendship is better than most Degrassi friendships because we see both of them go through hell and back numerous times from middle school to college. It's a real coming-of-age story.

Those girls went around and around and still managed to come back together overtime.

It wasn't seen much on screen, but the scene in Ghost In The Machine always gets to me when Craig shows up at Sean's.
Ellie and Marco
I loved how close these were two and somehow, I still wish I'd seen more of them together.
(I did like the slight trio of them with Paige as well a lot, wish there was more).
Holly J and Fiona
These two definitely didn't like each other, but I loved them when they became friends.
Clare and Allie
I loved seeing these two girls become friends and like Emma and Manny, they got into a lot of fights but still stayed friends.
Craig and Sean

I liked Jimmy's and Spinner's until Spinner ruined all of that.

They got past the biggest obstacle in their friendship, spinner being partly to blame for Jimmy being shot. That takes a lot of forgiveness and time and maturity. I can dig it.
Holly J and Fiona
I love how they went from hating each other to being besties. Definitely preferred their friendship over Holly J and Anya.
Sav, Peter, and Danny
Their bromance was awesome and fun to watch
Clare and Allie
I love them since they first appeared. Their history is somewhat reminiscent to Manny and Emma's, but still managed to forge their own identity away from the OG's.
Holly J and Jane
Total opposites, but that's what made them fun to watch.
