I just finished it today in my summer health class..
yea so basically, chris, owen and sam are all using together. and then one day chris takes sam with him to go and rob a store and a security gaurd catches him outside and tackles him. then chris tells sam to drive away but she gets caught too by the police. so they are at the police department and they are put on short rehab programs. so then they(just chris and sam) are clean for a few weeks. sam gets a letter of acceptance to brisbane (rhode island college). then one night sam and chris are hanging out (sober), and owen won't stop calling them. so sam answers the phone only to find that owen has news for them- amy (14 year old blonde girl who is friends with owens sister and is his girlfriend) is in the hospital in the intensive care unit. they get there and find out that she is there after trying heroin that owen gave her. he tells them that they did it at his house, and because he now knows that the cops are going to search his house, he asks sam and chris to go get some "stuff that shouldn't be there" (heroin) from his house so the cops dont find it and charge him. sam refuses and makes chris promise that he doesnt get involved in owens problem. chris promises, but later goes alone to owens' house (owens mom is out of town) and sees owens needles and heroin. but he doesnt take it away- he uses it. the next morning chris gets to school later in bad shape after a night of scoring.it gets worse :(. sam is in class when all of a sudden students begin to be taken out of class. the cops were cracking down on all the heroin addicts and users. 32 in total are taken (owen, who was caught, sold them out). sam leaves class (along with basically everyone) and goes out to find news reporters there saying, "a 17 year old track star has died of a heroin overdose". Chris died. Chris' mom gives sam his truck. sam goes to college, clean, driving with Chris' truck. Owen goes to court. my health teacher told us owen got 10 years in prison and sam graduates from college. chris' mom says chris would have wanted sam to have his truck.
