Jeff Bucley: Profound lyrics

I just recently discovered jeff buckley, I absolutely loved his album, "Grace"

THe lyrics are awesome, I will post more later on the reasons of why this is , to me, a great album.

Jeff Buckley, whereever you are, thatnks.

He has to be the best singer, songwriter, musician ever.
i dont understand why more people dont know him, although i am kinda glad because then we would become like the Beatles (who everyone claims to love for fear of being flogged otherwise) or something.

I'm in a way I am happy that he isn't extremely famous. If they were constantly playing his music on the radio and idiots were walking around school humming his music it wouldn't be as special to me. We who know of him have something special and unique. I agree he is the best and his work deserves more attention.

reply

If you want an unknown guy check out his dad Tim. There's a songwriter you don't hear about.

I just think his music is extremely sincere, the lyrics both beautiful and poignant at the same time. Grace is a cd i'll be playing for decades, and i hope his music lives on - because he tells a story worth telling.

reply

Nah, everyone I know has heard of Tim... he was more prolific with sheer number of albums released. Jeff never had the time to gain recognition in his own lifetime, and people are only just begining to discover him since people like Coldplay and Starsailor have been namechecking him as a huge influence.

Lonely is the room the bed is made
The open window lets the rain in
Burning in the corner is the only one
Who dreams he had you with him
My body turns and yearns for a sleep
That won't ever come
It's never over,
My kingdom for a kiss upon her shoulder
It's never over, all my riches for her smiles
when I slept so soft against her...
It's never over,
All my blood for the sweetness of her laughter
It's never over, she's the tear
That hangs inside my soul forever

^^ The most moving Jeff Buckley lyrics ever...they're so beautiful.

I can agree with that. Lover, You Should Have Come over is easily my favourite song of all time.. Also, Morning Theft is pure splendorama.
Jeff, is without a mere shadow of a doubt, my unrivaled favourite artist of all time, and the way his music has changed the way I listen is unimaginable.

reply

What Will You Say.... my personal favourite. A truly beautiful song.

reply

Agreed, "Lover" is my fave too, but I like the opening lyrics that paint the picture of the funeral mourners in the rain.

Not posting the lyrics though - so you have to go listen to the song, LOL

As well as their brilliance of their music, i think a lot of the attraction with people like jeff buckley, tim buckley, nick drake and love is that they aint mainstream which makes it all the more unique and special to you

reply

I love Jeff Buckley he was amzing but I always find it strange when people call him obscure, most people have heard of him. I have to say the soul of lover you shoudve come over is ripped out by Jamie Cullum, I really hate his music.

OMG, Nick Drake! Awesome. I discovered him some time ago, and there are definitely some similarities. Beautiful voice!

Amen, brother.

I've converted a few Jeff Buckley fans, but I'm still the only one I know that listens to Love as much as I do. Brilliant band.

Keep on Shining...

I was introduced to Jeff Buckley through a friend of mine a while back. I always liked his music from then on. After watching the live in Chicago DVD though, like isn't an appropriate word. Lover, You Shouldve Come Over made me cry like a baby. What a beautiful song. What a beautiful voice. So, the point is, Lover will always be my favorite song and lyrics.
