I'm utterly ashamed...

of being born in Argentina. I loathe this piece of land in ways you can't imagine. And this movie just made it worse. Argentina was under military rule since 1976 and innocent people were being secretly kidnapped and executed for no reason at all and the best manouvres my government could come up with was hosting the 1978 world football cup and declaring war on the United Kingdom.

I want to make this clear now: the Falkland Islands NEVER EVER belonged to Argentina and the only reason to support their claim is that "They're near Argentina, therefore, they must belong to Argentina". And it's amazing how stubborn Argentine people are as they seem to forget that people lost their lives and it was a destructive unnecessary conflict brought up by the very same people who covered Argentine history with blood.

A proof of this is this movie. Just look at the way it glorifies the vain effort made by underage and weak soldiers (don't get me wrong, I liked the movie, I think the way the living conditions of the Argentine army was portrayed is quite accurate).

People who stupidly defend the unexistant soberanity and people who comment on this movie at the IMDB forums with an extremely poor command of English are sadly a reality.

You are wrong. Argentina had posetion of the Islands after de Independence Act until 1833 when a US Navy Ship attack the setlement in retrieve for and Argentine Navy control over USA fishing boats.
After that UK expulsed violently the Argentine Governator.

The island did belong to Argentina since 1810 to 1833. Argentina, after independizing, claim all the Spanish posetions of the River Plate Viceroyalty.
The islands belonged to Spain before Argentina Independence, UK was expulsd by Spain years before after a deal with France, wich reconigzed the Royal Spanish sovereignty.
UK recognized Argentine Independece Act, was one of the first country (the first was Hawais King). So, british accepted the act, and that act says all posetions of the spanish viceroyalty nows belongs to Argentine sovereignty.

Also the Malvinas Islands are connected to the continent by the submarine platform.

Also you can see the 1790 Indians Archives of the Royal Spanish Crown.

Also, United Nations have the Malvinas topic as a colonization issue under the British Empire... nothing more to say.

The governor wasn't removed violently. He was asked to replace the Argentine flag with the British one, and then asked to leave, which he did, and as a result was court-martialed in Argentina.

The Argentine claim is absurd. It pits two or three years of habitation and centuries old grievances against two-hundred years of habitation and the right to self-determination of the islands people.

If the Argentinians held the idea of colonialism and theft of land in such disdain, then they would pack their bags and head back to Spain and Italy, and leave their country to the natives.

Agree with everything you say. In my opinion those islands are not worth the life of a single human being. This is when patriotism is good for nothig at all. But hey, if Argentinians like to feel like victims and pave the way for more deaths that will result in absolutely nothing, let them do it.

You forget to mention that in 1833 GB stole those islands from ARGENTINA, argentinians used to live there until a pirate colonialist army invaded the islands and implanted a population to serve GB interests.
In 1982 Argentina military government decided to take control of the islands, it was a stupid idea becouse they didnĀ“t had alliances, soldiers or good weapons. But this is what all argentinians feel about this conflict, those are our islands and you invaded them on 1833, we want them back !

You're welcome to try again. And once again, you will get a good shoeing.

The heroic Argentinian military had previously shown great courage, fighting hard and fierce against unarmed students and trade unionists, bravely kidnapping them and torturing them, then throwing them naked and alive out of helicopters into the sea. How on earth did they lose against the highly trained, highly motivated, well equipped, professional British forces?

Get over it. The people who live on the island decide who they want to be, not corrupt, incompetent politicians in Buenos Aires.
