I came away a bit ambivalent about her reunion with Richard. Of course survival of himself and the resistance cell in Prague was a priority, but he sure abandoned her without a backward glance when he was under threat.
But in the context, it's probably not a reflection of his love for her. But it contrasts yet again with Joza's loyalty to her at all costs.
In the final scenes, Richard seemed completely unmoved by her emotions at returning to Zelary.
In fact, he had an ugly and unpleasant, highly "annoyed I don't want to be here and this is crap" expression on his face.
It seemed perhaps the message was that her first husband had never expressed this kind of thing to her, even when it was the darkest hour. But now that it's not even stressful wartime, her current husband is a bit of a pain in the patoot.
It probably was not easy to include, but I did want to know if she became a physician when she returned to her old life.
