Infidel?

Why was that girl, Piper, called an infidel for having a threesome? Were they using the word wrong, or are they using some obscure definition of the word that I'm unfamiliar with?

Infidel, as in Infidelity.

Is that a correct usage? I can't find it in any dictionary, online or off.

Probably not, but that's the only thing I can think that she could have meant.

'infidel' means someone who doesn't believe (in a god or a religion)

So what has this to do with Piper who's only 'vice' was that she was drunk all the time.

And even if infidelity was her vice, whom would she betray? She wasn't in a relationship.

You already figured out that infidel is wacky shorthand for Infidelity. I think it's usually used to mean someone not "loyal to the one god" or howeveryou want to put it. (I feel like I usually see it used by middle easterns in bad movies, referring to people of a different religion, but I'm betting their accuracy might even be worse than MINE here... )

As for how it applied to her, When the movie starts, Elizabeth is with Finch.. err.. Eddie Kaye Thomas' character who's name I already can't remember. The slutty chick and the artsy gay guy were "together" - as they were the rest of the movie, 'a year later' - but they admit it's all a farce to hide his proclivities. Amber Benson and Nick Stahl were together.

Elizabeth arranged it so that the Slutty Chick, Amber Benson, and Nick Stahl had a threesome. In her definition of things, that made Amber Benson somehow cheating on Cick Stahl. He, on the other hand, is a Hypocrit for saying he wouldn't have sex with the Slutty Chick - or Elizabeth, if you look at the big picture - but he did. Seems to me he's both a Hypocrit AND an Infidel, if you follow all this logic. But like any crazy female in love with the wrong guy, Elizabeth can forgive him anything, pretty much.

I think Amber Benson got the short end of things all through this movie. Including the fact that I KNOW her to be a WONDERFUL actress, and she plays a terrible drunk in this. As in, NOT believably drunk. I still love her. Only famous person to send me a direct message on Twitter :) She's the sweetest ever.

Anyway, I 'get' the movie, but it's sadly very silly, really. They had me with them, silly or not, right up till Christian lost it and started killing his friends. He needed more motivation - I think he literally LOST it. Went insane. I think he knew how things were going to end at the VERY end. But I'm not sure it makes any sense to kill his friends AND him and his sister.
