low budget + no inspiration = bad movie

**** MINOR SPOILERS ****

I was first intrigued by this movie because it had been filmed in Romania. Possibly a vampire connection in the story?

No!

A lot of films are now shot in Romania because it is significantly less expensive to film there. The movie could just as well been shot in the San Fernando Valley, though it would be much more expensive!

Talk about low budget - - this movie was filmed entirely inside one house! Okay, there were occasional outside shots with plenty of fake lightening and howling winds. But mostly, we in one place, with just a few folks.

I think if the story and acting were better, this could have been a decent thiller. Think about it! You have a group of young people and there is some terrible secret that one of them has, and that person fears that the others know and invites them back to kill them off. I leave it up to your imagination on what the secret is. Agatha Christie has written many such stories, so I know it should be possible.

My guess about this total LACK OF A MOVIE is that these actors were all in Romania (or somewhere close to it) and working on OTHER MOVIES. Someone decided to rent a house for a few days and shoot a movie with these actors. There would not be a lot of money needed, and these actors (most relatively unknown) could be paid a small sum for the few days it took to make this movie.

It's only a theory, but I will stick to it: I bet if we checked, we would see that these actors were already in Europe at the time this movie was made. There is no way that they all would have flown to Romania to shoot only this.

Agreed. I usually like the low key/claustrophobic thrillers. But this wasn't anything. All these people hate each other, yet like to hang out. They all cut into each other at every moment, yet nobody laughs it off as playful.

And this is the kind of movie that happens when you don't develop characters. We have no idea what the people are like. So when one comes out of nowhere with a crazy line, we have no motivation behind it. It was just too weird, and since nothing was explained it just came off as lame.

I can look past the acting/camera work/etc... because it's a low budget flick. But when there's no tension, no logic behind what a character is saying/doing, and no real scares, it's a weak film in every way possible...
