I loved this movie

All of people hated the movie, but i can't get enough it for some reason. I thought the acting was very good. And it seemed very true to life. I kind felt mocked by Michele a little bit. Which i find a little embarrassing.

Have other enjoyed this movie? Or am i just too open minded?

I just watched it as well. I fell in love with Amelie (which is now my favourite movie) and when i was walking in blockbuster, saw this and knew i had to get it. At first I thought I wasn't into it because it was moving WAY too fast, but then it slows down and it's very good. I'm also jewish so I love seeing french speaking hebrew! I thought overall it was very good, and i have a love/hate relationship with the ending because if they had ended up together i would've had been disappointed and if not, i still would've been disappointed...so it's nice I can decide (or just let them stay in an eternal limbo). I liked it...the end!

Haha. The same happenned to me. I was walking in the foreign films section, actually sort of looking for Audrey movies, and this was the last one that came in (it was probably you who returned it late :]).

I have got to be one of the biggest fans of Tautou, not only for Amelie, but also for A Very Long Engagement and the Da Vinci code. She so easily forms to her roles in most everything I've seen her in, and I admire her style.

But you can't be biased here; this was a very bad movie. From a critics point of view, there are three of four major things wrong with this movie. One is the acting, disastrous. Now, considering how much the films seems to have cost, this can be forgiven to an extent. You could even bet they spent most of their budget on casting Audrey for show, crossing their fingers for something they knew would never be. Second is the all but intuitive scene transitions. These became so repetetive and redundant and cyclic that you begin to dread the next not-so-clever doodled paper note. Third is the plot progression. In the beginning of this movie, things are moving so fast you can't even understand what's what and who's who, and then suddenly it stops, and moves at a regular pace, leaving you completely lost. And lastly is the plot itself, so blank, so filled with holes it seems as if the director was hastily making the story up as he went along.

To be absolutely honest, the only thing that attracted me to this move was the cover design on the dvd at the store, and the mere face that Audrey played a main character.

This move shall go down in history, along with Venus Beaute, as one of Audrey's worst films to date.

i liked the scene transitions/chapters scribbled on paper..it was young and childish like the character of michelle. i enjoyed this film personally and as usual tautou perfectly nailed another role.

I agree with you. When I first saw it a few years ago, I don't think I understood it very well and so I couldn't appreciate it. I didn't know much about Judaism, so I didn't understand a lot of the humor. But having spent the last couple years in NYC (second home to Jews apart from Israel), I understand a lot more about the religion and its traditions. I found this film absolutely delightful and Audrey's acting at its best. I loved her facial expressions, especially when she was frustratd (with her mom) or when she was completely clueless (about the Channakah candles)!! People should stop typecasting her as Amélie because she's such a dynamic actress. She shouldn't have to be stuck in sweet, playful roles, like Meg Ryan does, because she's so talented and intelligent (or cerebral) when it comes to choosing and playing roles.

I really recommend this film to people who are willing to look beyond Audrey Tautou for her role in Amélie and to realize that she's one of the greatest actresses of our generation.

I just finished watching this movie and I loved it. Of course, I'm a big Audrey Tautou fan and I've loved everything I've seen her in so there's that. However, I got into the pitfalls of having a relationship thing, thought the can't live with 'em, can't live without 'em thing was funny, and realized Michele's quest for spirituality was simply a cute and amusing backstory and little else. Very well done.

The film clearly had some major flaws, but the character of Michele is such a real human character that its hard not to like this movie.
Hate the boyfriend, yet would love to see sequel.

I just watched it. My brother rented it and I only watched it because Audrey Tautou was on the cover. I suppose I enjoyed watching it, although towards the end, I was antsy waiting for it to be over. I liked how it would jump from scene to scene. A lot of movies waste time on insignificant things just to waste time or fill up the plot, this movie didn't bother and I liked that. I felt like we were only seeing the important stuff. But since it skipped around so much, I got confused easily. I didn't realize Michele tried to commit suicide at the beginning until Francios said so. I didn't really understand her obsession with Judiasm and his trying to hide his faith. They never explained why he flipped out over the thing on his door. I thought it had to do with his family being involved in the Holocaust. I also didn't quite get why they broke up. The ending bugged me. So overall, I'm gonna say I didn't like this movie. But I did enjoy watching it for the most part lol. I loved Michele and the funny photoshoots she went on. There were a few funny lines. Overall, I just didn't get it and it seems like a lot of you saw flaws as well.

I liked it, too, despite all the hate I read about it before seeing it. While I do not think it was even close to any kind of masterpiece, I certainly didn't find it as crappy as some people made it out to be. That said, I, too, am a Tautou fan, so I sure that helped a lot. She really can do no wrong, imo.
