A very good movie

I watched it at the cinema and loved it, then watched the director's cut and loved it even more.
I felt Ben AffLeck done a good job as Matt Murdock/Daredevil as did the rest of the cast with their roles. Excellent portrayal of Bullseye by Colin Farrell.
I have never understood the hate for this film, respecting personal tastes and opinions, of course.

Absolutely. Love the Nolan trilogy, all of them. It was a different take on the Batman mythos. Although my favourite Batman movie will always be Tim Burton's 1989 version. I remember being blown away when I first watched it at the cinema.
Changing the subject slightly, but it sounds like Deadpool is getting very good reviews, I was already looking forward to seeing it, but more so now.

As far as the director's cut goes I agree, excellent movie. Doesn't look silly compared to the newer Batman trilogy or the Netflix DD series.

However, the regular release is awful, and deserves all the hate it got.

Perhaps you somehow managed to interpolate what they cut out, and ignore the padding?

reply

Perhaps. There were two factors involved when I watched it:
1) I was away in Wales celebrating my 3rd wedding anniversary.
2) At that time superhero movies were scarce. So you appreciated what you got, as long as it wasn't Superman IV or Batman and Robin bad, which I didn't feel this was.

I'm definitely with you on point #2. Even now, though parts of the film were groan inducing, I find it hard to slag on it like others do on that point alone.

reply

I've tried so hard to dislike this film.

reply

I liked it as well. So you are definitely not alone.

reply

Couldn't agree more. I was hooked the moment Murdock cracked open the vicodin.
