It Runs on Vista!!!

Look, I'm the Captain, and I'm sick of you always fusing things to my juice!!!
Runs for me, but with a weird black thing across the right hand side of the screen :/ any ideas how to fix that?

A couple reasons;
Programmers don't always follow the rules when writing software. Sometimes they use shortcuts that rely on quirks in a particular version of Windows.
Even when they do follow the rules, Microsoft has been known to change some of the core functionality of Windows, which can break compatibility with old games.
If you're using Vista or Windows 7, you probably have a new system, which means you have a new(er) graphics card. Such cards may require the latest version of Nvidia's drivers and Nvidia has a pretty poor track record for backwards compatibility. Every new version seems to break something.
