Favorite Wrestling Match?

Chances are if you're reading this you watched the whole 'Milena vs. Alicia Fox' debacle on Tough Enough.

If you were standing in front of the man himself, and Stone Cold Steve Austin asked you what your Favorite Wrestling Match was, what would be your answer?

Thought about it during the show!

I'd say The Rock vs Stone Cold at Wrestlemania X-7.

reply

Wow, I think that's exactly the match I would have said.

Good pick Skipper.

I have two,

- The Undertaker vs. Mankind in Hell in a Cell - King of the Ring, June 28, 1998
- Triple H vs. Taka Michinoku for the WWF Heavyweight title - Monday Night Raw, April 10, 2000

reply

If I was on the show:

My first title shot, you 3 move wonder!!! I am going to be the greatest wrestler this business has ever had.
(if attitude he needs, attitude he gets)

In reality:

Dean Malenko vs. Chris Jericho

or

Trish Stratus vs. Mickie James

Somewhere there's a land of peace, acceptance, love, and equality. Pray they don't allow humans.

Wrestlemania 13 Submission Match: Stone Cold Steve Austin vs. Bret "Hitman" Hart. You wanna talk about passion, this match had it. You have Austin beginning his rise of Austin 3:16 and you have the best mat technician in the business in Bret Hart. Anytime these 2 fought, I was hooked.

reply

Sorry, but I gotta go a little "old School" here. Ricky Steamboat vs. Rick Flair for the NWA World Championship in 1989 at WrestleWar. Best 2 out of 3 pin falls. For some reason, this match sticks out to me, even 22 years lated.

reply

Guys, guys.

It's about what you would say infront of Stone Cold when the he's the man to determine if you'll stay in the show or not. Me, my favorite wrestler IS Stone Cold anyway. So I really wanted to see how he'd react if that girl actually said a Stone Cold match, will he be flattered or pissed off.

reply

i'd say Evan Bourne vs Chris Jericho or Billy Gunn vs Chris Benoit

I cheated and I lied and I left the cap off the toothpaste!

That's not exactly what I was going for with this topic, I was basically asking what your Favorite Wrestling Match was, only worded it differently. If you want to make choices from both of those perspectives it's fine with me. If you were honest about it then there's no reason it should matter what your choice is if it's your personal opinion. To us longtime fans visiting this board something like 'Melina vs. Alicia Fox' would seem weird to us. She admitted she had recently gotten into it. So I'm wondering what all of your Favorites are.

I still say the submission match between Austin & Bret Hart from Wrestlemania 13. A close second would be the ladder match between Razor Ramon & Shawn Michaels from Wrestlemania X.

The Wrestlemania 25 match between HBK and the Undertaker was the greatest of all time. It wasn't my favorite however. Favorite moment of being a wrestling fan was on July 6, 1998. The crowd roared when Goldberg lifted Hogan up in the jackhammer to win the WCW world championship. I'll never forget that date and how it felt when I saw that.

Austin Vs Rocky - WM17

Randy Savage vs. Ric Flair for the WWF title at Wrestlemania 8. The PPV itself is probably considered the worst Wrestlemania ever, BUT I really loved this match (and the Bret Hart vs. Roddy Piper IC Title match) because it captured how vulnerable Savage was basically having to battle both Flair and Mr. Perfect on the outside, plus the whole Miss Elizabeth debacle. Savage persevered and won the match and the title on a bum knee.

Tommy just sold a half a million BRAKE PADS!!!!!!!

I would say "Ricky Steamboat v Randy Savage" at Wrestlemania 3!

Steamboat was my favourite wrestler, and Savage was my brother's. We would argue, leading up to the match, who deserved to win more.

What I like is that here were two wrestlers who were almost equal in their ring performance, so going into it, I didn't know who would win. These were the days before I knew it was booked (Wrestlemania III was the first major WWF event I had seen, having just "discovering" wrestling few months before), so that match sticks with me.

I think "Stone Cold" would agree, as he rates both men, especially Steamboat, who Austin has said is his greatest all-time opponent.

I think I might have to say Hulk Hogan vs. The Ultimate Warrior for the WWF Heavyweight title at Wrestlemania VI. It was one of the few Wrestlemania main events featuring Hogan where he wasn't fake bleeding profusely by the end. The Ultimate Warrior's monologues leading up to that match were an unintentional laugh riot.

Being inconsistent is better than being consistently bad.

Sting vs Ric Flair, Great American Bash 1990. My 2 favorites of all time, with my favorite of all time winning the belt for the first time. I loved watching those 2 together.

I am a huge Austin fan. If I wanted to kiss Austin's butt, I'd go with the Bret Hart match when he didn't tap. I think Austin would respect you if you just named something legit. I don't think he'd just want people to kiss his butt.

Some matches that always delivered were when you had guys like Eddie Guerrero, Chris Jericho, and Dean Melenko working together in the WCW. The ladder matches with the Hardy Boys, Edge and Christian, and the Dudley Boys always delivered.

I don't watch wrestling much anymore, but the last match I watched that stood out was a match with Angle vs AJ Styles. Angle was always great in the ring. I always felt like Styles would have been a huge star in the WWE. I think TNA royally screwed over him and Samoa Joe. They carried the company for a while and never really got the push to be stars that they deserved.

I'm stuck between Undertaker/Flair at WM 18 and HBK/Jericho at WM 19.

"Not only does that thing exist, but now you have deprived everyone of cake!"

The blood isn't fake.

Hogan also never bled at WrestleMania I, II, III, IV, V, VIII, IX, and X8. In fact, WrestleMania VII was the first time Hogan had bled in years.

Another match which is one of my faves was on "WCW Nitro" one night back in 1998-99. It was a Steel Cage Match between Chris Benoit and Dean Malenko, where, at one point, Benoit did a flying headbutt off the top of the cage onto Malenko.

My three favorite matches of all time are:

Bret Hart Vs. British Bulldog (SummerSlam 1992)
Without a doubt the best match of all time. The chemistry between Bret and Davey Boy Smith was impeccable. A match that told a story and had you invested in it from the opening ring of the bell. This also had to have had one of the most electrifying audiences I can think of.

The Undertaker vs Mankind (Hell In A Cell 1998)
You want to talk about the craziest, heart-pounding match of all time and you don't have to look any further. I've never been left so speechless and exhilarated from a match in my life. This is one of those matches you can watch a hundred times and still get thrilled about.

Bret Hart vs Mr.Perfect (SummerSlam 1991)
Here we have two of the best technicians to ever face off in the squared circle. This is one of the most underrated matches I can think of. There's nothing fancy about but everything screams perfection. Here is a match others can watch a learn a thing or two from.

If I knew that Austin was going to let me go anyway, I would say that my favourite match was any match with Chris Benoit, just to see if they would bleep out my comments on the show, considering that you are not allowed to say Benoit's name in WWE anymore, I would like tos ee what happens if I let his name slip.

owen hart vs british bulldog at the '97 rebellion i think not positive

Could you be talking about Owen vs. Davey Boy in the finals of the European Championship tournament on Raw from Berlin, Germany in March 1997?

I don't remember what Pay-Per-View the match was on, but I would have to say that my favorite match would have to be Brett Hart vs. Owen Hart in a Steel Cage match.

A close second would have to be Diesel vs. Bob Backlund (c) at a house show on November 26, 1994, for the WWF Championship. That match took way less then a minute. Bob Backlund tried to shake Diesel's hand but instead Diesel kicked Bob Backlund in the midsection and then gave Bob Backlund a jackknife powerbomb an then pined Bob Backlund 1-2-3.
