'Forever Red' Question

Im a big fan of PR, and liked wild force alot. But one question has been goin in my mind when i saw this episode. why was jason, the original red ranger, there. Because im pretty sure that in MMPR, everyone lost their power coin, so how can he be in here?

reply

Yeah I know but then again thats not the first time they did that in one of the episodes of PR in Space Adam ( The second black ranger ) shows up to help and uses his old power coin morpher ( after alpha 6 tried to fix it ) to become the black ranger again but it would have been easier if he had used his zeo powers in my opinion

reply

that does make sense, thx for clearing it up a bit.

reply

I was reading a FAQ recently and it said that goldar only destroy the ninja coins and not the dino coins and the one adam use was applenty his dino coin as for jason he must of got his morpher and power coin of rocky since he couldnt fight anymore

reply

hey sorry to be a pain in the rear but when you commented earlier about jason using his zeo powers that would be kind of hard for him to do since he gave them back to the trifurion or however it was pronounced

reply

yo dreamr893 i wasnt actually talking about jason using his zeo power at that point i was talking about the episode in space when adam shows up and starts fighting with carlos he uses the orignal morpher i said that i thought it would have been easier if ADAM not jason was to use his zeo powers but i can see i didnt wirte that comment cleary so i can see were you are comming from

reply

Plus the gold ranger powers nearly killed Jason.

I have a very involved theory which owes a lot to Power Rangers script writer Amit Bhaumik. Jason's tyrannosaurus dino coin and powers were transferred to Rocky in "The Power Transfer Part II" without any duplication of the dino coins. The tyrannosaurus dino coin in Rocky's hand was then drained and damaged but not destroyed in "Ninja Quest Part I". At some later point in Season 3 near Christmas 1995 aka "I'm Dreaming Of A White Ranger", Lord Zedd off-screen, steals all of the dinosaur power coins and restores them to be used by his new team of "Dark Rangers". Zedd also rebuilds the Dinozords slash Thunderzords and these are also used by the Dark Rangers. At some point in Zeo or Turbo the Dark Rangers are finally defeated, off-screen with their dino power coins once again damaged and drained hence Adam's short lived mastodon coin morph in "Always A Chance".

Jason was the one who defeated the Red Dark Ranger and reclaimed his damaged and drained dino coin. In either Lost Galaxy Or Lightspeed Rescue, Tommy off-screen, went to Eltar to locate Zordon's old energy source. Once Tommy had done that, he used Zordon's old energy source to permanently restore the tyrannosaurus dino coin for Jason and at the same time, Tommy also used Zordon's old energy source to restore his own Red Zeo sub crystal which had previously been drained in Amit's "Scorpion Rain" spin off. Also during Tommy's Eltar trip, Tommy found the remains of Alpha 5 and had someone (possibly Andros) repair him to become Alpha 7.

I would take this with a pinch of salt since Amit said the details are a little fuzzy. Still the beauty of this theory is that everything up to and including "Forever Red" is accounted for. It would also mean that the Dinozords slash Thunderbirds are simply waiting somewhere in the solar system, ready to be used again either as the Dino Megazord or Thunder Megazord. That would be awesome to see again! In fact I read on an ancient rangers board that early drafts for "Forever Red" proposed to use the Dino Megazord as part of a 10 Megazord battle whilst another draft proposed to use the Thunder Megazord instead. Another bonus is that Amit's theory gives another possibility of restoring all of the other powers for "Legendary Battle" in Super Megaforce in addition to the Sentinel Knight ability which permanently restored the mastodon dino coin in "Once A Ranger".

reply

good theory. sounds pretty accurate to me.

tristanvanos: I think it Adam could probably use his Zeo powers but IMO the Zeo powers were destroyed with the Turbo powers when Divatox invaded the command centre. But that still wouldn't explain how Tommy or T.J. morphed in Forever Red unless F.R. is out of canon or just a side story. Since the original morphors weren't destroyed, it is possible for morphing to happen just at a large risk.

Also on a side note here is a timeline:
Adam becomes 2nd Dino Black Ranger
Adam become Green Zeo Ranger
Adam becomes Green Turbo Ranger
Adam passes his Turbo powers to Carlos to become Green Turbo Ranger
Carlos becomes Black Space Ranger

They both were Black and Green rangers. I don't think its a coincidence.

at no point did the original power coin change hands between jason and rocky so mabye when they transfered the power it created a another coin for rocky and so jason still had his coin but just didnt use it until forever red

Or maybe a bunch of writers who didn't write any or not alot of the other series, was sitting around and said wouldn't be cool if dtommy and jason came back. and another said yeah or all the red rangers. Or soming to that effect. Tommy and Jason were the best and they wanted them back. The series was starting to suck again. They wanted the ratings. I now i taped and later bought it on dvd.

reply

They deleted a scene form it.The scene goes:

Jason:hi Tommy what's up?
Tommy:I nedd you help man.
Jason:hey Tommy did your hear what happened to Trinni?
Tommy:yes I did and Kimberly is still saded by it.

reply

haha classic

reply

Whoa...
How did you find that? Are there any more? [I'm still trying to find the deleted scenes from the Turbo movie...]

In forever red it would have been awesome if they did the thing were all the red rangers got there zords and destroyed serpentera, but its one of the things that got cut out of the script.

reply

Hi everybody!!!
would you imagine the episode Forever blue?
Because I want to see again Steve Cardenas!!!!!

On the subject of Jason's powers there are two possible explanations:
1. His is the original tyrannosaurus power coin and Rocky's was only a copy made by the Sword of Light (most plausible)

2. Tommy and Hayley recreated it while researching the Dino Thunder powers knowing about the Machine Empire's plot to unearth Serpenterra. (Least plausible)

I think that option one is the one to go with because how could two humans recreate the power of the original Power Rangers when those powers came from extra-terrestrial sources

No one "found" anything; it was a disgusting joke about the actress who played Trini; she died in a car accident.

reply

I know she died in a car crash. I was only wondering if the writer's intended to account for Thuy's absence in a respectable way, instead of simply replacing her.

Golder destroyed the Ninja Coins. The Dino Coins were not.

Jason got back his Red Power Ranger Powers because:
1. The Sword of Light made a Duplicate including for the Mastodon and Saber-Toothed Tiger ones. Jason the Original one and Rocky took the Duplicate one or it could be the other way round. Jason is the only one to have his coin because Disney wanted Forever Red to celebrate the 10th Anniversary. Zack doesn't want to be insulted because he is Black. Trini died meaning she can't return even if she is to have the Power Coin. (Strong)

2. Tommy and Hayley could have recreated the Coin for Jason but does Tommy even bother to look for it unless if he wants to? (Weak)

It is same like Adam's.

MMPR 2: Black Power Ranger II
MMPR 3: Black Power Ranger (Control Zord/Megazord), Black Ninja Ranger (Fight Tengus)
MMAR: Kid (Ninja Coins destroyed by Goldar and Zords became useless but not the Dino Coins although the Coins are badly damaged)
PRZ: Becomes Green Zeo Ranger IV
PRT: Becomes Green Turbo Ranger, Passes Power to Carlos
PRIS: Came back to help Carlos regain Confidence. Became Black instead of Green to match Carlos' personality.

This comes from rangercentral.com:

How did the Red Rangers get their powers back in Forever Red?
It doesn't matter. The intention of Forever Red was not to nitpick and ask these kinds of questions, but to give us a great episode featuring every Red Ranger. Rangers have lost and regained powers before. There's no reason not to beleive it could happen again. The fact stands that they did have their powers, so obviously something did happen, and we didn't see it.

There was also a fanfiction that Zordon's energy wave, as well as destroying the Villains, fixed all the powers. Ok, Jason's coin was not the one Rocky had that Goldar turned to dust, that was the coin Ninjor gave to Rocky. It was his Dino coin. Notice the Sword of light was never used in battle, It could have held power, but that was used to create three new power coins, identicle to the Black, Red and Yellow. Also, it could be that the Zords were Transferred to these new coin so the origionals could not summon the zords and had nothing to do with the Zords anymore, so when the thunderzords were destroyed, Adam's coin was damaged as shown, but the 3 who had left were unaffected.

One thing I didn't get was in Legacy of power, haley tells them that most rangers don't have their powers anymore, but there have been teamups with a few seasons, and in Forever Red, Every Red Ranger had his power, so you can assume that every other ranger might have their powers as well. Forever Red was made before Legacy of Power sol it is That line by Haley that i would question.

While it's not mentioned in the episode, Jason still has his Power Morpher after "The Power Transfer: Part 2". Zordon himself says that with the Sword of Light, they'll be able to transfer power from Jason, Zack and Trini to Rocky, Adam and Aisha. When the new Rangers are given their own Power Morphers, the original Rangers still keep theirs as they depart the Command Center for the Peace Conference. This is also why Jason's coin isn't damaged after the six Rangers lose their Dino Coins' powers in part 1 of "Ninja Quest" and then later the Ninja coins were successfully destroyed.

I also wanted to mention that there's also a rumor that, in another version of the script, Jason would have ended up with Kimberly Ann Hart, the original Pink Ranger. This isn't a surprise to me, since they had a hinted romance in the "Turbo" movie (after all, they do go back to Angel Grove, alone, with no mention of Emily or Kim's new boyfriend... hmm...). Also, some fans consider it a possibility, since Jason is the one who mentions Kimberly at the finale when he good-naturedly counters Cole's claim Tommy is the best Ranger ever ("Are you kidding me? I was the one doing all the work while he was ay the Juice Bar kissing on Kimberly."). Who's to say that Jason wasn't dumped/broke up with his love-interest Emily sometime after "Zeo" and later been romantically linked to Kimberly?

Also, fans approve of her relationship with Jason a LOT more than what was originally intended: an original shooting script would have had a mention that Kimberly is the wife of Eugene "Skull" Skullovitch. While that's also not too surprising in a sense, since Skull has loved Kimberly and tried to date her since the pilot episode, the fans liked the idea of them remaining friends instead of learning that they got married.

But until proof surfaces of Jason and Kim's relationship in "Forever Red" exists/existed, however, take this rumor as just that: a rumor. Personally, though, I like the idea of Jason and Kim ending up together. (Imagine Tommy's reaction of his "bro" Jason ending up with his ex.)

Comments, anyone?

During Power Rangers Lost Galaxy. When the Space Rangers came, it doesn't mean their Powers are gone. The Z-Wave just make the Space Rangers Power Down. That, I don't get but who cares as long as they got Powers.

During Power Rangers Lightspeed Rescue. The Galaxy Rangers came back to help out. How they have Powers? The Quasar Sabers are their source of Powers. Mike has the Magna Powers because probably the Magna Defender gave it to him again.

During Power Rangers Time Force. The Lightspeed Rangers came to help out the Time Force Rangers. At the end of Lightspeed Rescue, the Rangers can choose whether to not wield the Powers anymore or still keep them. They chose to keep them.

During Power Rangers Wild Force. Wes and Eric showed up first and have Powers because the Chrono Powers and Quantum Powers probably have Unlimited Powers since they were from the Future. During Forever Red, now that's the tough one. Jason gets his Powers because his Power Coin was duplicated by the Sword of Light. For Tommy, the Red Zeo Sub Crystal still have Powers the most among all the other crystals but it is assumed that they are no longer active during Dino Thunder. For T.J., Lightning Cruiser either repaired T.J.'s Turbo Morpher or has a Spare one just like Justin and what more to say about the Sentinel Knight restoring Adam's?

During Power Rangers Dino Thunder. The Wind, Thunder and Samurai Rangers showed up with Powers that could last for one more battle after the Team Up. Kira's Powers were full restored by the Sentinel Knight as well as Tori's. The S.P.D. B-Squad Rangers also appeared.

During Power Rangers Space Patrol Delta. The Dino Thunder Rangers have Powers because Kat temporarily restore them which would last until the end of the Team Up.

During Power Rangers Operation Overdrive. Adam, Tori and Kira could come back with Powers because of the Sentinel Knight. Bridge was from the Future with Red Powers. Xander just have to believe in Magic.
