I found this very moving and think Laura San Giacomo is a great actress. It was almost hard for me to remember that she wasn't really ill.

However, I am not surprised that the gene therapy thing they tried on mice was apparently not a great breakthrough. Mice are not like humans. Biologically, they are not even particularly like rats. More than half the substances that are carcinogenic in rats do not cause cancer in mice.

I could be wrong but I thought the gene therapy DID work on the mice? Also, I recently read that mice mimic human DNA 99%. That's why they test on them.

I thought it worked too. Jenifer lived until 2003. I thought the treatment prolonged her life longer than anyone expected.
