NOT a wedding movie like Monsoon Wedding + Big Fat Greek!

My wife picked it out, citing the blurb on the DVD case. If I remember correctly, the box does promise it to be in the tradition of those two movies. We felt a wee bit mislead.

Not to say we didn't like the movie, eventually. But I liken it to biting into a piece of cheesecake expecting sweet, and getting savory.

I agree with you, I was expecting something lighter when I started watching the movie. The first 2 acts you´re watching a family comedy and it becomes a drama at the end -or is it like going back to reality?-.
I did like the movie, it´s entertaining, you get a few good laughs and then it leaves you with a sad feeling at the end. Who said there´s gotta be a happy ending?

reply

Yeah Israeli's have a verry dark sence of humour.

reply

No we doesent, in israel allmost nobody liked that film.

"The life is a scene badly written in which we must play"

reply

Not in israel.

I'm Israeli and thought it was very good. How could anyone not be touched by the scene when Zaza's family invades Judith's apartment? And the ending? Good script, good plot, well acted...What's not to like?

reply

This certainly isn't for the Big Fat Greek Wedding audience.

reply

I (an Israeli) never understood why anyone would consider this a comedy, except perhaps the bits with the dog.

reply

very good movie well acted and very realistic.
People who want to watch Monsoon wedding type Hollywood rubbish are welcome to it.I heard some good reviews of it in Israel too.
In fact it was screened on tv here this week so it must still be popular!
